Oppose Liz Fowler For Health Care Administrator

Oppose Liz Fowler For Health Care Administrator
If you don't know who Liz Fowler is, she is the point person for the health care special interests, who as a staff member for Max Baucus had a key role in drafting the health care bill that not only made single payer dead before arrival, but also put the first and last nail in the coffin of even a weak public option. And now President Obama has tapped her to actually administrate the program that was designed to favor the big medical corporations to the exclusion of the public interest of the people of the United States.

At the same time the ugly real face of the sham health care reform bill is already showing, with reports that medical insurance companies are already pushing plans to limit health care choices.

The appointment of Liz Fowler to any administrative health care position would be a monstrous insult on top of the terrible injury we have already suffered by the passage of a health care bill that is nothing but an industry crafted and cynical scam. This is exactly the lobbyist revolving door Candidate Obama promised he would lock down. Liz Fowler must not be rewarded for her role in cheating the American people out of a real health care reform bill.

Walter Reuther and Charles Krauthammer are two credible people that opposed health care being held hostage to a job. Ask all the health industry workers you know to see how many of them feel there has been a hostile takeover of health care by business/insurance entities that suck out too many dollars for what "services" they provide. Don't run government like businesses that underfunded retirement accounts and provide only those "services", to a cherry-picked portion of the market, that they find most financially advantageous. If we must have such a high percentage of profiteers, use the Swiss model to price the levels of care/deductibles. We are not getting over twice the quality and quantity of care for the staggering costs we pay compared to the rest of the world.

If Democrats are to have any chance of representing the ordinary middle class American -- change we can believe in -- it's time to stop trying placating the corporate powers and the ignorant, who will never be placated anyway. Max Baucus may be very grateful to Liz Fowler, but I'm not. Her guidance ensured that the only rational health care plan big insurers could not tolerate -- single payor -- was silenced. We now need her guidance as Health Care Administrator because....why, again?

I believe President Obama pledged that he would not appoint industry lobbyists. Yet, he is appointing Liz Fowler for Health Care Administrator after she did the bidding of the health care industry in sinking the public option and single payer. I do not believe that she is the best candidate for this job. She would only do her best to weaken the very slim and shamefully inadequate health care reform that we have gained. She would do her best to put us back to where we started--a failed health care system that violates international law concerning the human right to access to health care. We need someone in the position who will bring us into compliance with international law. Please, reconsider taking the McCain approach to governance.

Considering the damage that Liz Fowler did at the beginning of the process to reform our malfunctioning health care, it seems to me that to give her ANY say in the administration of the health care system is like putting the fox in charge of the hen house. There is no good sense in choosing her.

I'm having a hard time nowdays believing in change we can believe in.

Mr. President--

I don't understand--besides keeping too many bad people from past administrations around, getting rid [and way too quickly, I may add] of many good people you SHOULD have around--NOW you are appointing people like this who have NO business being where you've put them. I have great respect for you but do not understand this...

The President and the Democratic Congress should have at least fought to pass single-payer. The present "reform" is rigged in favor of big insurance. Maybe that was the best that could be done this session. But we must do better. Meantime, we don't need the fox to tend the chicken coop.

Please represent the people of the United States of America, not the giant multinational corporations and their industry lobbyists.

Demand that he appoint someone with a demonstrated interest and background in public health - not corporate wealth.

It is frustrating to have people having little or no interest in the people of the United States making decisions. They are good at playing games and placating special interests. It is time for a game change in our democracy. This is not a partisan issue. It is an issue of democratic independance.

We do not need any more lobbyists and industry shills in our government.

There is no difference between the corruption of Wall Street and the corruption of the medical industry.

It is time for the U.S. government to work for a health care system that finally puts the interests of patients before the interests of insurance companies. This will not happen if a former heath insurance official (like Liz Fowler) is given the job of administrating the heath care plan that was finally signed into law. That would be like appointing a former oil executive as head of the Environmental Protection Agency and it would almost certainly have the same disastrous results. Please do something for the American people for a change, please put their interests before corporate interests. I am tired of government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. Let us return to Lincoln's ideal instead.
Thank you,
Dr. J. M. Novak

I understand passing the Health Care Bill was the main objective but we paid such a high price for that. We wanted a strong Health Bill and what we ended up with is basically a bandaid to the healthcare problem in this country. Let's not add insult to injury by appointing Liz Fowler, one of the main obstructionists to the Health Care Bill, any administrative position. We believed in the promise of "Change", Mr. President, please show us that you meant it as more than a political strategy.

Selection of Liz Fowler appear to be supportive of profits for health care providers, not health care reform. Appointments like this is NOT the change for which I campaigned and voted!

Liz Fowler does not have the best interests of American citizens at heart.

Political cronyism is reducing the USA to the victim of a series of wholly-avoidable disasters. We don't need "regulators" who keep tilting public policy and debt in favor of large corporate interests at the expense of the citizenry. We need to undo the damage that breed has done. Now, that would be "change I could believe in."

This behavior is either an addictive habit or political suicide. President Obama--quickly get some therapy and provide the "change we can believe in" that you promised. It feels as though we're supporting a President whose a proverbial alcoholic who can't say no to the bottle (lobbyist,) and won't/can't see that he needs help to change his alcoholic (political) ways!

I recognize having to compromise on the bill in order to get it through, but compromising on the people to implement it isn't on.

I need a health care adminstrator who cares about the people's health needs and not about the industry's bottom line.

Please stop putting the roosters in charge of the hen house! I supported Pres. Obama during the election, but I am disappointed that the health care bill has had the stuffing knocked out of it by the insurance industry lobbyists, Republicans, and others.
When are we going to get real change in this country?

Liz Fowler is the last person who should be administering health care. Since she worked so hard to sidetrack the health care bill and weaken it, she cannot believe in its benefits for the working person. An appropriate director/administrator should be found.
