Sponsor The DISCLOSE Act

Sponsor The DISCLOSE Act
There is strong evidence that foreign money is being funneled into our country right now to tilt our elections. The so-called Chamber of Commerce is hosting events for foreign banks and investment firms, promising "access to the US Chamber of Commerce and everything that it does".

Well, pretty much the ONLY thing the Chamber of Commerce does is peddle political influence, and this is exactly why the diabolically misnamed Citizens United case in the Supreme Court was such an outrage. The Court did not even bother to make a distinction between foreign corporations and American ones, ruling that all could sit on the scales of our elections, as if they were great movements of living, breathing citizens. Let us be clear, NO corporations should be allowed to promote their selfish business interests as the free speech right reserved for the people, and we need a constitutional amendment that corrects any such misinterpretation.

But beyond that, the one thing the Supreme Court grudgingly did allow was that Congress could pass a disclosure law, like The DISCLOSE Act, to bring some sunshine into who was contributing to whom and for what. And yet not even this has Congress been able to bring itself to do. Who are the treasonous members of Congress who think it's a good idea for foreigners to own our politicians? The American people want to know and they want to know now. Tell Congress to sponsor The DISCLOSE Act or be so identified.

I'm sorry to say that I no longer have faith in any part of our government. I was so excited when Obama won, because I thought that finally our divisive government would come together. I believed that Obama would reach out and bring our two parties together. If he couldn't do it, I don't think anyone can. I no longer believe the rhetoric that the US is the best nation. We're oblivious to the power, education and technology that other nations have developed. I'm seriously worried about other countries "owning" us.

We have to have transparency in our elections and our government if we are to maintain democracy. I think the two-party system should disappear. Only rich people can win elections. I'd like to see money being spread out between the other parties like the green party and others who can't honestly hope to compete without an equalization of election monies.

Please listen to "we the people" and take a step toward our government becoming more transparent.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Regards,
S. B. NELSON

Our elections are now available to the highest bidder. What has happened to a government, by THE PEOPLE and FOR THE PEOPLE?

Until there is complete transparency in election funding, it will only get worse. No wonder that the American people are suffering- the corporations have taken over.

Get a spine, do what is right for the COUNTRY- pass this act!

Dear Congressional representative: I strongly ask that you sponsor legislation to force disclosure of all sources of campaign financing. Please sponsor "The DISCLOSE Act." Our government should not be for sale, either to domestic corporations and certainly not to foreign corporations.

Sincerely,

Lisa Mattsson

I am worried that our elections are being influenced not only by too much money but by foreign money as well. A level playing field would be to give public funding to all candidates in a certain amount. When that is used up they get no more. Then everyone has an equal chance. Also, the media (newspapers, radio, tv) must step up to the plate and give all candidates the same amount of time on the air not just the ones that seem to be the most popular, or as it is now the ones that are leading in the polls and are getting the most in campaign contributions. Our election system needs a major overhaul. Besides that we should have weighted voting so that third party candidates cannot be accused of ruining it for a Republican or a Democrat. We have major problems. "...liberty and justice for all" as it say in the pledge of allegiance, we ain't got!

Let's get the Elections Committe and the IRS to force disclosures of these "shady" contributors.

Corporations are not people, they are machines for profit, and increasingly they are hoarding rights and privileges, while abdicating responsibilities to the communities they live in. Enough. At least require that the public be informed of their political contributions.

I'm deeply disturbed by the asinine and absurd decision to pretend that corporations have rights, but I'm even more disturbed that there's no requirement that those corporations be American-owned, and that Congress hasn't yet passed a disclosure law. We have the right to know which politicians are being influenced by which foreign corporations!

The current status of some of these groups that take money without disclosure is a perfect example of the need for this. We have no idea who is donating money to these campaigns, it could be questionable people from other countries for all we know. Freedom of Speech is important, however, even if it should apply to entities that donate to political campaigns, it does not apply here as we have no idea who is "speaking".

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce should not be a political organazation. It should stand neutral on the subject of who locally, statewide or nationally leads us forward. The Chamber's involvment tarnishes their credibility as local representatives of all who live w/i their individual and national scopes. They must distance themselves from politics altogether.

Suspicions started with Billy Bob Clinton and his NAFTA Chinese connection aiding his last re-election. Shortly afterward, the Chinese were given 'FAVORED TRADE STATUS' and started producing all our products with virtual slaves (don't believe their propaganda about well paying jobs) to invade our shores at little or no tariff cost!! Why do people suspect an Arabian connection aided the election and re-election of the Bush Crime Family? The chance for truth in such allegations are blatently obvious to anyone with reasoning ability. Proof? You will never find any proof because powerful people have the ability to erase any and all evidence. All one needs for proof is the overwhelming circumstances that point to greedy, and morally corrupt power magnates who exhibit facism to the core, and have stacked the Supreme Court to allow a (not too well hidden) facist agenda - 'Eliminate the Middle Class'. We need a sign that reads: 'Facism Reigns Supreme in the U.S.A.'. So, at least, lets have disclosure, which we hope can eliminate those awful suspicions.

When I was in school, I was always told "might doesn't make right." I still believe that, but, the scales are being tipped egregiously in favor of the rich and powerful. I am a citizen! I raise a family, I/we get sick and require the services of doctors and hospitals, I educate my children, I work, I succeed ... I fail, I vote, I die. I do not deserve to have my rights as a citizen run over by individuals or coporations just because they have the money to do so. We need the Disclosure Act!!!

Corporations are not the kind of people I want dictating the direction of our government. First they are not alive,
secondly they have no morality. Everybody knows that dead things that have no morality can be very dangerous if they are allowed to run things. Just look at cars. They can be very dangerous to people and that is why we don't let cars drive! It's time for corporations to be unmasked through the disclosure of their campaign contributions so that real people can be informed regarding what is effecting their representation.

I'm tired of Karl Rove and Michael Steele asking 'where's the evidence' of foriegn money and huge insurance, oil, and bank dollars funding Republican campaign ads through front groups. Obviously, without full disclosure laws, we have to rely on Rove's secret donation group and the big business chamber to open their books for us and they're not so, obviously, they have something to hide!

The Supreme Court has recently exceeded its designated realm of authority and jurisdiction by taking on and deciding politically oriented cases with a clear right-wing bias, not a balanced jurisprudence that serves the American people at large. As a result, the institution has lost credibility, a sad commentary on the institution and the justice it was designed to advance.

I have noticed that more and more political ads in the last several years list the Chamber as part of the group urging a specific vote. I also notice that I vote the opposite. NOT because of the Chamber, but because I seem to be on the other side. I believe that the Chamber does not support or care about the poor or middleclass as I have personally seen them fight against a living wage for employees. They are the problem, NOT THE SOLUTION.
