...and I can't think of a better way to boost the economy, people who are not paid enough to buy what they need cannot help us out of this wealth gap recession.

If walmart didn't exist, we would have less reason to push for a raise. But they do(minate!) so we must.

No reason for a comany with such profit not to pay a living wage.

I support any increase in the minimum wage, but it really should be raised to $12. Corporations raking in billions of dollars in profilts always have the money to give their executives annual raises (even sweet severance packages when the CEO has been fired)!

It's time to pay Americans a living wage.

In the richest country in the world it is shameful that
workers cannot earn a living wage. The five Waltons are among the wealthiest in the world.

I believe that we won't be able to enforce any minimum wage before we discourage the rampant "outsourcing" of jobs that enables bosses to use foreign workmen as "scabs" without their knowledge.

It is time for a living wage and for minimum wages to be tied to inflation to keep up in the future.

Congressional members get two raises a year, automatically. We know this!! Please pass the $10.10 minimum wage bill immediately, and at least half that for restaurant workers, Herman Cain notwithstanding. I am TIRED of paying for health care, food stamps and other strategies these poor people need to survive since their minimum wage frequently doesn't even reach $7.25.
Thank you.

It is unacceptable in a country as rich as ours for so many to be working for less than a living wage, because corporate America thinks they can get away with it while they rake in record profits.

There is a bill on the table, The Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2013, which any conscientious member of Congress must support. Were the
minimum wage just be to adjusted for inflation since 1968, it would be $10.77 right now. All the hard working people of America are asking for is only $10.10.

It's called the minimum for a reason. This is the minimum we can do to guarantee our fellow citizens a chance to participate in the bounty that truly is America.

Pass The Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2013 now!!!

As corporations rake in the profit, they need to compensate their employees with a living wage.

It is inherent in being an American to lend a helping hand where needed. I've experienced long-term unemployment during the Dot-Bomb and beyond due to being a "senior" - it was devastating - lost everything.
Please help those that are struggling to get through their challenge.

People say that a low minimum wage allows teenagers to begin working. But most minimum wage workers are adults with family responsibilities. People say that raising the minimum wage will mean employers will stop hiring. But if an employer has work to be done, if he has any savvy he will hire workers to do it.

While paying a "living wage" would cut into the outrageous profits of many corporations the savings for County, State and Federal Government from reduced Medicaid, Food Stamps and Welfare could be in the billions. Use your search engine to find out how much The CEOs of the lowest paying corporations take home. The US culture of greed.

We, as a country, are loosing a middle class. We are becoming a divided and polarized country based on economic factors, one of the strongest being lack of union representation of workers. The congressional Republicans should at least show muster up some respect for hourly workers.

I believe, as most Americans do, that everyone who works should get at least the minimum wage.

Because of you, we all could work and earn, so there's absolutely no enmity, rather, "Corporate America" - you are doing a great job. All we are asking is revising the wage, so that it is livable and survivable, keeping in mind current market index. Thank you very much for your consideration.

If we all want fewer people on welfare then companies must pay more to the (now) working poor

It has been far too long since workers have had a rise in the minimum wage. Pleaase catch them up. The argument that this will mean fewer jobs does not hold water.

We can not continue to let our economic engine founder upon the wealth inequalities of this nations neo-con policies. An economy will not function properly unless the workers of this nation can spur the economic engine with disposable income. This encrease suggested here will only help the working poor to have a better chance at keeping their heads above water. In short, this is the least that should be done.

It is morally reprehensible that large corporations rake in obscene profits and refuse to pay their workers a living wage . It is pure greed at its best .
