Restore The Voting Rights Act

**********

A strong voting rights act needs to be there for historic minorities, like African Americans and Latino Americans, and future disadvantaged and targeted minorities. Before the latest US Supreme Court decision, the Voting Rights Act worked well and achieved its purposes. Since then, some states have taken advantage of the weakened act to move to deprive minorities of their voting rights. We should all remember: Today's minority may become tomorrow's majority and vice versa.

I am saddened mostly because our Supreme Court was complicit in reversing the course of decades of progress! Their decisions haven't been so obviously partisan in decades. Disgusting.

This ACT should be a National law!

It is incredible that the same shrill voices that whine about the lack of fair and open elections in other nations are the ones who are most actively denying access to the ballot box in the land of the free and home of the brave. Shameful, shameful, shameful.

restore the Voting Rights Act!

Women and minorities fought long, hard battles to ensure the right to vote for every United States citizen, not just a select few. Our elected officials should be doing everything they can to protect this right, also, instead of restricting its access as it once was. Please support the passage of HR 3899, The Voting Rights Amendment Act, immediately.

The Voting Rights Act is one of the most important pieces of legislation every crafted and enacted. It MUST be restored!

The Voting Rights Act was placed into the Constitution because African Americans were not treated as equal citizens. It is assumed, however. that the places that needed to be monitored for fairness at the voting poles in local state laws previously to the 60's are no longer disenfranchising voters of color, age, sex, background or religion in the 21st Century. Then why is it necessary to ask citizens, voters of this country, for their "papers" and otherwise harass them at poling places? The laws that protected voters in the Voting Rights Act must be reestablished and updated to fit the challenges that voters face today. It is unconscionable to favor gun owner ID as acceptable, while ignoring a Veteran's ID or one of an elderly person or as with any proof of residency. Congress now must exercise the power that even the Supreme Court admits they have, to pass HR 3899, The Voting Rights Amendment Act, immediately.

In an elected representative form of government, it is absolutely paramount that all legal citizens be afforded the civil right to vote. It is repugnant that the Supreme Court made a precipitous reversal of key sections of the historic Voting Rights Act last year, which threatens to undo 50 years of democratic progress. In order to strengthen the democratic process in the U.S., it is crucial that the Voting Right Acts be fully restored, and I am counting on you to do so.

Voting is a right and responsibility of every citizen in our democracy. No one should be able to take that right away. All means possible should be in place to protect that right for all citizens.

I have been left shaking my head in disbelief, sadness and anger. Voting is a right, a responsibility, and necessary in this Representative Democracy. The erosion and denial of this right is not any form or branch of our federal or state governments' right. Their responsibility is to protect.

Everyone should have the right to vote as long as they are a legal citizen of the United States of America and should be given that right. They should not be denied.

If this nation insists upon asserting its democratic values abroad, it should do so at home by expanding and increasing the ease with which its citizens vote. The Supreme Court is NOT a representative body and should not have the power to arbitrarily disband major pieces of legislation that for decades have played a necessary role in ensuring that any citizen may participate in elections through their vote.

Since voting is one of the primary methods for participating in this Representative Democracy, it is important to protect all citizens right to the voting booth.

The premise used by the Supreme Court to strke down section 4 of theVoting Rights Act was arrogant, racist, completely oblivious to the facts. Look at the racial attrocities
hurled at our President by the hate mongering, fear mongering, hypocrite, right wing, biggots in our electorit and
in congress. I have never seen such disrespect for a US President who deserves non of it and who has tolerated it with grace.

It is a shame that the representatives that we put into office to serve all the people only want to serve the constituents that follow their ideology and will do anything to be sure that happens. It is "WE the people" not "The people that follow their party line".

We all have the right to vote. Do not block that basic right.

It is essential to uphold our democracy that unnecessary obstacles to voting be prevented. Please pass HR 3899, The Voting Rights Amendment Act.

the uproar over voter fraud is itself a fraud, actual voter turnout by ESTABLISHED voters is usually dismal, except for "important" elections. Local election clerks are diligent in making sure WHO is voting is voting where they're supposed to, and only ONCE. The idea of someone running around voting in SEVERAL districts is HILARIOUSLY ridiculous!

Restore the Voting Rights Act that the Supreme Court so outrageously reversed key sections of last year before there is dire consequences in the suppression of voters rights! All citizens have the right to vote and even the Supreme Court can't take that away from any citizen of the USA! It is in the Constitution!
