This is a reasonable request from a prudent man I hope, and trust that people who represent myself and others in Congress are also prudent and rational people. Don't prove me wrong!

It is astonishing that anyone, absolutely anyone, can buy an assault rifle without a background check at a gun show in the U.S.! Assault rifles and similar military weapons should simply not be legal for civilians to own, and no one should be allowed to buy a gun of any kind without passing a background check.

Most Americans support sensible gun laws. The NRA doesn't represent most Americans' values. So why is our government afraid to offend the NRA and not protect it's citizens?

It's time to have common-sense background checks BEFORE anyone can purchase a gun, whether it's online, at a gun show, or in a store. No one should be able to buy a gun without the appropriate check, no matter how long it takes to clear.

Think morally.

Enough is enough. You have the ability to enact sane, sensible gun regulation that would cut down on so many many deaths in the United States. Instead, in NC the legislature has widened gun availability by forbidding sheriffs to check backgrounds when a person applies for a pistol permit. They did this AGAINST the advice of the sheriffs' association and police advocacy groups in NC. Our murder rate will likely rise- especially that of abused women, as Missouri's did when they enacted similar legislation. PLEASE:ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Background checks do work as demonstrated in the recent San Bernardino terrorist shootings. The killers understood that they could not buy assault guns directly without their plot being discovered. Instead, they had to get a straw buyer to acquire their weapons. A background check of the straw buyer would lead to the real buyer, prevent the plot, punish the straw buyer and send the message to others trafficking in guns that they are likely to be caught and punished for criminal use of guns hat endanger our citizens.

Please STOP being negligent in your duty to protect the American people. I don't worry about a terrorist attacking me. I worry about being shot in a grocery store.

Don't the killings bother you?

This is insane that we are just now proposing these measures. Just do it. NRA be damned. Just do it. We are beyond saving as a moral society if we don't.

The USA has the highest developed country per capita gun violence deaths. Australia instituted strict gun laws after their big massacre and gun deaths plummeted. The NRA lies endlessly about the 2n amendment. Our legislatures are being intimidated by the gun lobby. I have been threatened by NRA members.
It is time to bring these atrocities to a halt. Pass a required gun license for owners and gun registration.

There is no reason on this god's green earth for high capacity weapons to Average Joe in this country.
There is no reason not to have background checks on every citizen, non citizen and anyone coming into this country.
If countries cannot work with us (as in South and Central America) we should cut them out of complete negotiations, finances and ban any of their citizens from this country.
The 2008 law promoted by "open border" Diane Feinstein needs to be rescinded.
Why do tax laws, border laws and trade laws made by so many "thoughtless" lawmakers that sell the American citizens down the river, pass so easily and with so little thought.
Get your head out of your...... Washington!

I disagree with 3 and 4 above. It's too easy for some "good ol' boy" to put someone on a watch list because of personal reasons and it's not fair to the victim who then has no control over lies about him (her).
I would like to propose that guns be treated like cars, registered, and that sales then go through a department of registry. You must have a title to your gun available for inspection. Ownership and use can only be taken away with violation of applicable laws.

We very much need to address the "gun" issue. Having
guns at the ready for every fight, argument, plot, difference
of opinion is a recipe for disaster (as we see daily).

These are 10 common sense actions to improve our children's survival in the U.S.A. Eliminating the "easy access" to guns is a no brainer and does NOT infringe on our constitutional right to bear arms. I am a hunter and feel this would only improve our fight against gun violence. It's time to kick the NRA OUT of Congress!
Thanks,

To this retired psychiatrist, America's continuing failure to regulate guns properly is simply insane.

Please protect my right to the pursuit of happiness. Guns and weapons to kill make profits for a few and heartache for the masses. Consider the Common Good for all.

This is your watch as a leader in the Congress of the United States. You must step up with your legislation and/or your votes in order that fewer innocent citizens die from present gun laws during your time in office.

Everybody needs a drivers license to operate an automobile. Why wouldn't we need one to own a firearm?
