This is a critical issue. The people should be able to take a formal stand on it.

It is very unfortunate that the Supreme Court support Citizens United, each one of the Supreme Court Justices should be given term limits and should be voted not nominated. Money should be taken out of politics as well.

Governor Brown:
Please sign or otherwise allow SB 254 to become law! We the people of California want to join with citizens across the country, liberal and conservative, to speak out against corporate personhood and money mistaken for free speech. Resolutions similar to SB 254 have been on ballots in hundreds of cities and towns across the country, as well as the states of Montana and Colorado. They have always passed by huge margins.

It is only big money special interests who oppose SB 254. I ask that you stand with the vast majority of the people and against outfits such as the Jarvis Foundation, the Lincoln Club, and the Koch brothers. Don't pay heed to big money mouthpieces such as the Los Angeles Times. You can help show the world that big money cannot control everything by signing SB 254 into law!

Please let the people vote on SB 254. Advisory petitions have an honorable tradition in expanding democracy. In 1892 Californians responded to an advisory measure when they were asked if they wanted direct election of U. S. Senators. They voted Yes, and 20 years later the United States Congress ratified the 17th amendment. S.B 254 is a similar democracy expanding measure. Around the country numerous cities, counties, and two states have passed similar resolutions. The goal is to pass the 28th amendment, saying money is not speech and corporations are not people.

The peer reviewed Princeton and Northwestern study says the United States is no longer a democracy, but an oligarchy. SB 254 is part of the process to return democracy to the people. It is bipartisan.

Those who say Californians can't understand the difference between an advisory petition and a proposition that creates law are condescending. If anything it should be clear to legislators during this election season, people are are fed up with our system of oligarchs. Californians are more aware than ever that their choices are being subverted. Be on the right side of history. Pass SB 254!

Only the most corrupt politicians would fight against this. I'm disgusted by you, but not surprised. Your embrace of fracking has already demonstrated your corruption, now you're just rubbing it in the voters' faces. Go to hell!

Once again, I am begging you, Governor Brown, the one man who stands in between Californians expressing their opinions - in essence, our votes in regard to Citizens United. "Ballot bloat" is a stupid "reason" completely made up by corporate cartels for blocking this vital action. If you want California to lead the nation and you be the hero, sign this bill! If not, I will be forever disappointed in you and shocked to know that your character was not what I invested in you. Sign this bill for the people and for the country. Your hesitation is like water boarding. Seriously.

Citizens united is legal bribery, lobbies are also corrupt, if you don't recognize this , you have no place in American politics, and CA will remember.

We need to send a clear message to Washington DC - we the people have had enough of corporate influence in our democracy. We are taking our democracy back from the highest bidders. I hope you are on the right side of history and join us by signing on to SB 254 so that it goes on our ballot this November.
