The People's Email Network Last 25 Messages Transmitted Log Go Back Impeach Jay Bybee ********** [183035:111009] A.W., Puyallup, WA We have lowered the value of human life, and denied individual civil liberties that we are brought up to believe are part of being an "American". Humans are NOT a status quo, and injustice must be ceased, or the people will revolt. ********** [074551:100809] P.H., Orange, CA Torture is fundementally wrong, regardless of reason or "good faith". It is against our Constitution. He said exactly what the Bush Administation had asked him to say. He needs to go! ********** [121301:100609] J.S., Fort Wayne, IN Impeach Jay Bybee for ordering torture, giving up morals for nothing. ********** [194938:071309] A.P., Glen Ridge, NJ Bybee is an unacceptable person for a lifte-time appointment as appellate-court judge in the 9th Circuit. His abominable behavior in the totally discredited Bush Administration was bad enough. He does not deserve to continue in office, especially given his obstinate position regarding the torture memos he improperly penned and used to "provide cover" for this atrocious, illegal behavior. ********** [233216:062109] S.C., Malden, MA Human rights for all are supposed to be fundamental to our bill of rights and our constitution. Please do the right thing, and remove this monster from his position of way too much power. ********** [234758:061609] P.B., Milwaukee, WI THis man traded his integrity for advancement. He should not have been rewarded with a judgeship. ********** [203900:061009] J.R., Dana Point, CA to tell Congress 2 "Impeach Jay Bybee", who STILL says the torture memos were written in good faith ********** [165204:060909] J.M., Centreville, VA If he believes his decision was based on on a good faith analysis of the law then I can't see how he is qualified to be a judge with his apparent inability to analyze even the most basic of laws where the intent is so obvious! ********** [223805:060809] S.K., Santa Fe, NM The people of this country deserve better than Jay Bybee. Since he seems uncontrite about his collusion in authorizing torture (an act that has made Americans far less safe, for decades to come), he needs to be removed from the bench. Impeachment was designed just for situations like this. ********** [074926:060409] C.V., Mount Holly, NJ A supporter of torture would sing a different tune after some prankster hacked into the Homeland Security site to make them an enemy of the state worthy of a stay at GITMO. Of course, it may have already happened and it was determined we "can't handle the truth." ********** [183737:053109] L.T., Surprise, AZ I see no reason for spending my money on a "Judge" that doesn't have a good grasp on the morality and legality of his or her actions. ********** [175314:052609] M.G., Alexandria, VA Jay Bybee is an incompetent judge and should be removed from office ********** [094439:052409] M.H., Union City, NJ When grievous crimes have been committed by a nation, and the revelation of those heinous actions are made know to the sleeping public, correction must be applied. Otherwise, all public law becomes a travesty for the majority of law-abiding citizens. When a handful of powerful, evil-intentioned decision makers are allowed immunity from prosecution it sends a powerful message to the rest of the world. ********** [104804:052209] T.F., Ridley Park, PA It is unconscionable to allow Jay Bybee to remain on a federal bench after he so flagrantly violated both the letter and the spirit of our anti-torture laws and treaties. The integrity of our judicial system must be maintained. Bybee must go. ********** [084738:052209] M.Z., Sarasota, FL Impeach Bybee, Cheney and W. Bush and finally send Rove to jail for a long long time. ********** [192203:052009] M.B., Shreveport, LA No one who supports torture can call themselves Christains. Do they think Jesus would say: "You can only pull one fingernail since you are one of my followers". Or " you can only waterboard for three minutes since I died for your sins". I am obviously a better person than John "Bonerbrain" and ALL of the Republicans since they ALL believe Jesus would okay torture. ********** [102939:051809] J.T., Bushnell, FL We cannot hope to prevent these abuses in the future if we do not take steps to rectify the horrible decisions made in the recent past. Impeach him now. ********** [094548:051709] W.A., Yountville, CA Torture is "cruel and unusual punishment", As such, it is precluded by the United States Constitution. ********** [064121:051709] B.W., Boulder, CO Once again, I am appealing to you to bring all the "players" to a higher standard of accountability for their actions. There is a growing desire in our land for transparency and accountability in both the private and especially the public sector. Please join this movement toward integrity. ********** [165622:051509] J.T., Melbourne, FL It's time to start cleaning house! Indict, impeach and prosecute all war criminals and the minions that supported and abetted them. ********** [084138:051509] F.D., Terrebonne, OR I'd would like to see Judge Bybee subjected to waterboarding and then ask him if it's torture. ********** [125131:051309] W.E., Sussex, WI We need to rid ourselves of such charters as this Bybee. Impeach him!!! His writings are in direct opposition to existing Treaties signed by the US and even are in oppostion to the legal action we have taken against other countires for the use of waterboarding as a form of torture. How can he be a judge when he is not knowledgable or chooses to ignore existing law. ********** [071150:051309] v.c., Collinsville, OK Americans are tired of of the "two tiered legal system",one for the rich and powerful, the other for the rest of us.... ********** [205215:051209] J.C., Hyde Park, MA In none of the discussions I have heard or read on the subject of impeaching/prosecuting members of the Bush Administration and their advisers is the possibility of an international tribunal looking into this even mentioned. We should all be aware that, in the absence of action on our part, action could be taken internationally. The United States President cannot pardon anyone convicted internationally. In addition, our country itself might be prosecutable. Please think carefully. ********** [153927:051209] D.J., Miami, FL In a society which follows the Rule of Law, no one is above the law. A memo drafted by a political appointee justifying torture does not reverse international law and human rights treaties. ********** Go Back |
