If ALL the people of this country do not have an equal say in who represents them, then the country is no longer a Democracy but a return to kings and queens.
Apparently many people in this government in positions high and low do not consider that all men AND women are created equal. so they must lie and cheat and steal in order to place their heads higher or gain a better advantage. Individuals like this are in one word - cowards! Full of fear and eager to suppress the rights of others in order to have more of whatever they want. They are impoverished souls.
Heaven help them when the shoe is on the other foot and Nature brings back to them what they foisted upon others.

Stop the crazy actions of a few bad apples in DC. Please vote to support the voting rights act of 1964!

It seems like the government only wants African Americans to be the only people to have to have this renewed. Looks like blacks have not come far at all in this country the way this country keeps holding them back. It's disgusting.

It is time for we Americans to take back our country from the Federal Government Dictators. We are watching very closely regardless of what party those that vote against the betterment of Americas. Watch out how you vote, selfserving career politicians won't be around after the next election. Keep your eyes on what you were elected to do or you will soon be looking for a new career soon.

I REALLY FEAR FOR OUR COUNTRY WHEN WE HAVE TO FIGHT FOR SOMETHING SO BASIC AS THE RIGHT TO VOTE. I WAS ONE OF THOSE THAT FOUGHT FOR EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL TO VOTE. THIS IS SHAMEFUL.

What is the matter with you guys??? Has the Declaration of Independeance, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution absolutely eluded you??? Why is this even an issue??? To protect our Voting Rights is to say to the American People, of whom you 'supposedly' represent, "Yes, I will do all in my power to ensure your right to choose". Get with it already, this is a no-brainer.

I am sick and tired of eroding voters rights. All who are eligble to vote must be allowed to vote, without hassle. I want to make sure that all votes are counted and are re-countable.

Not only should the Voting Rights Act be renewed, it should be expanded. All states should allow felons, who have served their time, to regain their right to vote. Serving time should mean at least a return to full citizenship.

I shouldn't think it would be necessary to plead with you to support renewing the hard fought Voting Rights Act. But these are strange times, and so many rights have been taken away, that I have to not only ask you, but beg you to do everything you can to Renew The Voting Rights Act Now.
Sincerely, Margaret L. Albert

The need for the voting rights act is urgent and obvious. Lying, cheating and stealing are no prideful way to govern a magnificent country such as ours. Our current adminstration's "strategies" fill me with shame as it should all citizens, no matter their political affiliations.

Without civil rights, our concept of being a government based on democratic principles is a joke. It should just be ironic that the people who claim that we are in Iraq to give these rights to others would fail to maintain them here. The sad truth is, it is so tragic that it the irony gets lost in the sadness.

How can we possibly hold our head up in the world if we can't even pass an extension of the voting rights act? Please stand up for fair and equal voting rights.

The Voting Rights Act should be renewed immediately! Minorities are still prevented from voting in numerous ways including caging lists that target minorities and remove them from the voting rolls, too few voting machines and subsequent long wait times to vote, and questionable software in voting machines that call into question the integrity of each vote placed by all Americans. Now more than ever we need strong voting RIGHTS legislation. We don't need more obstacles to voting, a democracy rests on the people's vote!

Every American needs to have the right to vote and the Voting Rights Act needs to extend forever.

Our society hasn't evolved enough to have accept, embrace and integrate the values that the Voting Rights Act codified. If America believes it's own platitudes, then laws need to enforce them.

Hard-won rights, gained by sacrifice and blood, are being ripped to shreds by this administraion. Extend the Voting Rights Act or we will vote not to extend your time as a false representative of the people. We look forward to hearing from you, especially Mrs. Bono.

The Voting Rights Act is essential to securing the right to vote for millions of Americans. Don't let it become history. Any representative who does, will themselves soon become history.
